In this role with MacKillop Family Services, you’ll have the opportunity to provide in-home care and support to young people who need it most, helping them grow, develop, and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.

About the Role:

As a Residential Youth Support Worker, you’ll be at the heart of our Residential Services, where we provide a safe and nurturing home for children and young people referred through the Child Protection system. You’ll play an active role in their day-to-day care, offering emotional support, fostering personal growth, and helping them build life skills.

Your tasks will include:

•  Supporting young people’s emotional and practical needs – offering a listening ear and helping out when they need it most.
• Encouraging personal growth and well-being – helping them build skills, confidence, and a positive outlook on life.
• Managing the behind-the-scenes tasks – taking care of the day-to-day admin and helping the household run smoothly.
• Creating a positive environment – ensuring the space stays welcoming, stable, and supportive for everyone.

What We’re Looking For:

To be a great fit for this role, you’ll need:

• A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or similar qualification).
• A valid driver’s license (you’ll need it to get around).
• Working with Children Check, Criminal History Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check (we’ll help with this if needed).
• A genuine passion for helping young people thrive and a caring heart.
• Empathy, with the ability to connect with young people in a non-judgmental way.
• Strong emotional self-regulation skills – you’ll be the steady hand that provides safety, consistency, and stability to those in your care.
