About the role

The Family Support Services is funded by Territory Families, Housing and Communities and is a collaboration with Danila Dilba Health Services. The Family Support Services coordinate an effective service system response to respond to high and complex needs, and trauma. The program must be able to engage with, and work effectively with, the broader service system.

The Family Support Services has a clear mandate to information exchange between service providers and Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities to ensure quality of services, efficiency and prevent unnecessary statutory intervention. The service prioritises and fosters sector partnership and collaboration, and services are based on evidence and focused on outcomes.


We have one Permanent Full-Time and one Permanent Part-Time (0.8FT) opportunities based in Darwin, NT within our Northern Territory (NT) Services program. The position reports to the Family Support Services Team Leader Manager.


Key Selection Criteria:

  •  Bachelor's degree with specialisation in in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or a related subject area and/or significant work experience in a relevant field which supports an understanding of key child development issues relating to parents and their families who have complex needs.
  •  Awareness and knowledge of attachment and trauma theories related to Aboriginal children, young people, and families; Demonstrated ability to use this knowledge to guide practice with Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, meet deadlines and key deliverables of the program.
  •  Direct use of pragmatic (i.e., systems, strategic and functional) family therapies
  •  Risk and social skills assessment and intervention.

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
