About the role:

The Assistant House Supervisor is responsible to oversee the daily care of young people provided by residential care workers within their allocated residential care home during times when the House Supervisor is not rostered to work, or is not present in the home. The Assistant House Supervisor is a part of the Out of Home Care Program and reports to the House Supervisor, or Residential Care Coordinator in the absence of the House Supervisor.

 

This is a Permanent, Full-Time (38 hours per week) opportunity based in Bendigo within our Out of Home Care program. The position reports to the House Supervisor.

 

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
  • Relevant Diploma with substantial experience including four (4) additional mandatory competencies (top up units).
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, lead and support a team of residential care workers.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the residential care field, particularly within a therapeutic environment.
  • Proven ability to relate to and work with young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Proven skills and experience in development of behavioural management programs for children and adolescents with challenging behaviours.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
