MacKillop Education in Maidstone is a Special Assistance School that caters for children from grades 3-6. At MacKillop we are dedicated to providing high-quality services that bring positive educational experiences for students who have experienced trauma, placement breakdowns and/or challenges to school engagement.  We work in partnership with mainstream, catholic, independent and alternative schools to support access and equity for vulnerable students at risk of disengaging from education.

This is a permanent fulltime Generalist Teaching position with a 2-year Fixed term POL 4 allowance, based at the Maidstone campus (this position does not have an allocated teaching load).

About the role:

The Education & Wellbeing Coordinator will implement, in the classroom and across the programs, a trauma-informed model of education (ReLATE) that promotes unconditional positive regard for young people with complex and diverse needs. The coordinator will work collaboratively and provide expert educational advice and wellbeing support for the Geelong team and education leaders.

This position leads the Maidstone Wellbeing Team, including the development and implementation of the Wellbeing Strategic Plan at MacKillop Education Maidstone. The Education & Wellbeing Coordinator also oversees NCCD processes and procedures and liaises with and attends student Care Team Meetings and Professionals Meetings.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant qualifications in education.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with primary students. who have complex and diverse needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of individualised and flexible curriculum content, pedagogy, and trauma informed practice
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.

  •  Valid and current Driver’s Licence
  • Valid and current VIT Registration or Working with Children Card
  • Valid and current NDIS Worker Check (for NDIS risk assessed roles)
  • Satisfactory criminal history check conducted by MacKillop Family Services
