About the role:

As an Education Specialist in our Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) program, you’re at the heart of helping young people thrive and reconnect with their education. Your mission? To ignite a passion for learning and provide unwavering support to these resilient individuals. Whether they’re in our therapeutic residential care, Intensive Therapeutic Transitional Care (ITTC), or engaging with the community, your dedication ensures they rediscover the joy of education, stay on their path, and unlock their true potential.

Primary objectives:

As an Education Specialist, you’ll be a bridge-builder, connecting young people with education providers to bring innovative education programs to life—programs rooted in MacKillop’s values and the essential elements of Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC).

Your role? To craft personalized education plans that align seamlessly with each young person’s therapeutic and case plan. Collaborating with the young person, their family, key supporters, and education providers, you’ll design plans that address educational needs and social-emotional growth. The goal? To boost participation, increase engagement, and create a supportive environment that minimizes absenteeism and exclusions.

We have a Permanent Part-time opportunity (19 hours a week - days are Flexible) available based in Wilton, NSW within our MacKillop Education Program. The Education Specialist is a member of the ITC team and reports to the ITC Coordinator. 

 

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Relevant work experience and a minimum Diploma Qualification, Certificate IV in Education Support or Special needs or equivalent.
  • An understanding and commitment to the objectives and values of the organisation, including Sanctuary Commitments, as outlined above, and a capacity to represent MacKillop values as required by the role.
  • An understanding of teaching and learning strategies and the ability to implement these as required.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check;
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check
