A new and exciting opportunity to join the team at MacKillop is available, we are currently seeking a part-time (3 days - 22.8 hours per week), Education Specialist based in Dandenong. This role is situated mostly in out-of-home care facilities.

Our vision at MacKillop Education is to ensure equity and access to learning for all children and young people who are vulnerable and disengaged from education. As an Education Specialist you will develop strong, supportive professional relationships to engage students and provide a safe and stimulating environment for learning.

In this role you will empower children and Young People living in out of home care, home-based care and statutory orders to reengage in education, experience success in learning and enhance the learning outcomes. You will be working with support services to plan and deliver high quality trauma-informed re-engagement strategies. Apply now to join our team and make a difference!

The successful candidate will have relevant experience working with disengaged youth (age 12-17), preferably with experience in supporting students living in out-of-home care.

Key Requirements:

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check; OR a valid VIT registration
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Appropriate experience and qualifications in education.
  • Experience working with children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. 
  • A sound understanding of how trauma impacts on learning. 
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing individual education plans.
