McAuley Community Services for Women helps women and children who have faced family violence and homelessness to take control of their lives. Through a range of supports including accommodation, legal, health, recreation and social responses, we support women to leave us with restored capacity and greater opportunities for safe housing, economic capability and wellbeing. We work alongside women and children, recognising their strengths and fostering their resilience to create a new future.

About the role:

The Communications Manager oversees internal communications and external communications, including submissions, media and digital platforms. The role is responsible for the development and implementation of communications plans to support the organisational strategy, as well as individual projects and programs, sector and organisational advocacy and key stakeholder relations. 

They will be a key contributor in the building of McAuley’s profile and reputation with both internal and external stakeholders and audiences. 

 

This is a permanent, hybrid full-time opportunity (we would consider 0.8 for the right person) based in Footscray within our central office. The position reports to the Head of Communications, Advocacy & Fundraising.

 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in public relations, media, communications or a related discipline.
  • Experience in staff management and in collaborating in a small, agile team environment.
  • Experience in developing and implementing innovative communication strategies across various channels, for both internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to interview clients who have experienced significant hardship and trauma to develop case studies that will contribute to McAuley’s advocacy agenda.
