MacKillop Education Waranara is a Specialist Assistance School that caters for students from Years 9-12 who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. It provides the opportunity for Young People who are experiencing mental health issues and significant life challenges to re-engage with education. At our school we are dedicated to providing high-quality services that bring positive educational experiences for students.

This is a permanent Fulltime position based at Waranara School in Annandale commencing in Term 1 (January) 2025.

About The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Wellbeing Coordinator to enhance the overall wellbeing of our students and support them in achieving their educational goals. In this role, you will be a key liaison between families, healthcare professionals, and staff, working collaboratively to address students' wellbeing and educational needs. Your responsibilities will include partnering with educational and community stakeholders to foster positive outcomes for both students and staff. Additionally, you will ensure that our school maintains a child-safe environment, adheres to regulatory and funding requirements, and effectively manages risk.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Formal qualifications in one of the following: Counselling, Psychology, and/or Social Work, or equivalent significant demonstrated experience.
  • Professional history of working with young people who have a lived experience of complex trauma and/or mental health within a school.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development and trauma informed practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional agility and empathy in a school context.
  • Ongoing commitment to strong self-care, boundaries, insight and self-awareness.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development and school supervision.

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence
  • Valid and current Working with Children Card
  • Valid and current NDIS Worker Check (for NDIS risk assessed roles)
  • Satisfactory criminal history check conducted by MacKillop Family Services
