Junior Project Engineer

The tasks you'll perform

• Assist with process design including, development of mass and energy balances, process flow diagram, datasheets, P&IDs, design criteria, control philosophy, functional specification and operating costs and specific client process engineering requests.
• Conduct the process components of scoping and pre-feasibility studies, under supervision.
• Assist with metallurgical testwork programmes.
• Assist with commissioning activities.
• Interpret metallurgical testwork.
• Preparation of process components of study documents.

The expertise you'll bring

• Tertiary level education in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 2 years’ proven industry experience, preferably in a minerals processing or project delivery environment.
• South African Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Cape Town based.
• Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables, within budget and schedule constraints.
• Demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software packages, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrate ability to and/or proficiency in the use of specific proprietary software packages
• relevant to the Engineering discipline; specifically for scheduling and cost control.
• Demonstrate knowledge of contract standards and a sound background in contract
• administration duties.
• Technical background with a broad multi-disciplinary base, preferably in minerals processing
• plants / infrastructure construction.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently in a team and knowledge sharing environment.
• Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and a practical approach to problem-solving
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment
• Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion
• High degree of professional ethics
• Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development and improvement
