Lycopodium is currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Planner to take on a critical role in our Ahafo North project team - A greenfield Gold Mine in Ghana for a tier one client. This position is an expat opportunity fulfilling a 6:2 roster for circa 18 months.

Reporting to the Project Services Manager, the Lead Planner will be responsible for the maintenance of the project schedule, as well as providing up-to-date data to assist with the management of project activities to the highest quality, in line with Company, Client and regulatory requirements. Additionally, this position will be the key support and point of contact between the Lycopodium Perth office and site, as it pertains to any planning related matters.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Ensure overall schedules and plans are achieved to a consistently high standard. 
  • Respond immediately to change to ensure projects are completed on time, in accordance with the contractual scope of work and services. 
  • Support the Project team to prepare the Project Schedules and provide up-to-date data to assist with the management of project activities, to the highest quality, and in line with Company, Client and regulatory requirements. 
  • Develop and maintain the various project planning specific procedures, work practices, plans, systems and protocols to enable efficient work, whilst maintaining a consistently high standard of work.  
  • Analyse scope changes and schedule trends and recommend actions or alternate execution options to improve schedule or mitigate delays.
  • Confirm all implementation approaches and controls are reasonable in their establishment and are met throughout the project.
  • Communicate immediately with the client and Project Manager on matters that affect the project goals.

The expertise you'll bring

  • Minimum 10+ years of Lead/Senior, planning experience in the design, procurement, and construction phase of projects.
  • Previous experience in EPC and EPCM environments and have experience working with all project stakeholders from:
  • Client;
  • EPCM and other Consultants.
  • Manufacturing and Construction subcontractors
  • Preferably an engineering qualification, trade background or equal (extended experience in the engineering and /or construction fields).
  • In depth knowledge of, and competence in, the use of Oracle and Primavera.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, detailed schedules and reports to meet strict project deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of Project Planning and Management.
  • Aptitude in building and sustaining positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues across all multiple locations.
