Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer to join our growing Process team in Mississauga, Ontario. 

Reporting to the Manager of Process the Senior Process Engineer is responsible for the delivery of accurate, professional and compliant process study and design deliverables using Company approved systems and procedures to agreed schedules. 

The tasks you'll perform

  • Prepare process deliverables including, but not limited to: mass balances, flowsheets, P&IDs, design criteria, operating costs and control philosophy of Lithium projects
  • Supervise metallurgical test work programmes and interpret metallurgical test work data for gold and copper Projects
  • Evaluate tenders and provide technical recommendations for the purchase of process equipment from vendors where necessary during studies and design.
  • Ensure all relevant stakeholders are notified immediately of any risk or changes to process deliverables.
  • Maintain an understanding of the latest process developments in the Industry.
  • Register and file all relevant project documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures.
  • Work in conjunction with a range of internal and external stakeholders to meet project design criteria and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of junior process engineers by providing mentoring and feedback on a continuous basis.
  • Manage multiple tasks and prioritise where necessary to achieve agreed deliverables to a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Assist with the development of proposals for test work, studies and detailed engineering.
  • Assist with commissioning activities, if and when required.
  • Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Project deliverables are met.
  • Become a member of an accredited professional institution (PEO) and attend meetings, talks and conferences, when possible, to further career development and build a network of industry peers.
  • Travel on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.

The expertise you'll bring

  • University Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate experience in mineral processing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels within an organisation and external providers.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment.
  • Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion.
  • Provide mentoring and identify avenues of professional development.
  • Experience using mineral processing software: LIMN, METSIM, SYSCAD, BRUNO
  • Advance level user of MSExcel
