Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Senior Structural Field Engineer to join our growing Engineering team in Mississauga, Ontario.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Senior Structural Field Engineer will:
- Provide specialist structural advice and input and resolve any mechanical related queries from the site construction team.
- Adopt and follow various work procedures, systems, practices, plans and protocols to ensure deliverables are met to a high-level of accuracy.
- Ensure all dealings with Client, Vendors and other external stakeholders are professional and in line with ethos of the business.
- Work collaboratively with personnel across all business units.
- To provide structural designs which meet the process, project and client’s requirements.
The tasks you'll perform
- Ensure site construction is carried out to a high standard in line with Company, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Provide sound technical advice to the project in the resolution of technical queries.
- Ensure that the installation and construction of the field infrastructure are aligned with the project and contractual requirements by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
- Preparing specifications for equipment and materials purchase.
- Ensure construction satisfies design requirements to ensure acceptable handoff of areas.
- Assist as required the Commissioning team to hand over sub systems and operating systems for ore commissioning.
- Attend and participate in field engineering staff meetings where issues are discussed and resolved.
- Perform accurate engineering designs and calculations for concrete structures, foundations and steel structures.
- Conduct timely reviews of Project Structural drawings and 3D models to ensure full compliance with design intent.
- Provide design support as required for fabricators, fabrication detailers and Project construction sites and timely (TQ Procedure) response to their technical queries.
- Interface with Geotechnical Consultant to ensure design requirements are met and incorporated in Concrete design, and provide appropriate guidance to concrete construction team.
- Encourage and build a positive workplace culture and team environment.
- Advise the relevant Manager immediately of any safety or environmental, community or industrial relations incidents as per approved Company policy and procedures.
- Adhere to Company’s Policy’s and obtain the appropriate internal approvals prior to making any contractual commitments.
- Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives within the construction team which support business’ continuous improvement.
- Manage multiple tasks and prioritise where necessary to achieve agreed deliverables to a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Register and file all relevant documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures.
- Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Project deliverables are met.
