Lycopodium Minerals are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior/Lead Quantity Surveyor to join our onsite project team in the South East Asia. This position will be fulfilling an 8:2 roster.

Reporting to the Constuction Manager, the Senior/Lead Quantity Surveyor will conduct field scoping activities in order to establish the quantity take-off for the project. Additionally, the role will assist with the provision of cost and material estimates, as well as working alongside the project team noting any design changes and effect on cost in order to ensure continued compliance to Company, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Quantity take-off and preparation of the Bills of Quantities on the project(s). 
  • Review construction plans / drawings to calculate and prepare quantity requirements, highlighting any anomalies to the Estimating team and updating quantities in line with any changes.
  • Tracking, monitoring, and controlling costs during the project lifecycle.
  • Analyse actual cost against planned cost and forecast final cost versus budget.
  • Budget/ Tender reconciliation, change management and variance analysis.
  • Understand and interpret scopes, pricing schedules, commercial framework, and reporting obligations against the EPCM contract.
  • Analyse and evaluate maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts, to ensure the best overall outcome for the project.
  • Liaise with the Construction Manager, site management team, clients, contractors, and subcontractors on cost and budget management.
  • Interpret specification and standards in order to assess their impact on project costs.
  • Provide continuous monitoring of the installed quantities against the original budget and approved variations.
  • Act as a focal point and SME for internal and external stakeholders on any QS related matters.

The expertise you'll bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Science (construction management and quantity surveying) or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years comparable quantity surveying experience within the construction industry or similar.
  • Member of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
  • Broad multidisciplinary base knowledge in mineral processing plant and infrastructure construction will be considered favourably.
  • Demonstrable experience reviewing construction plans and preparing subsequent quantity requirements.
  • Detailed knowledge of commercial management and QS obligations within a project environment.
  • High-level negotiating and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision with a consistently high degree of accuracy and producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, and work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple teams and locations.
