ADP (a Lycopodium business) seeks an experienced and suitably qualified Process Engineer to join our growing team in Cape Town. Reporting to the Process Manager the successful candidate will provide high quality deliverables to the process group whilst exceeding client expectations and maintaining a high degree of professional integrity and work ethics. 

The tasks you'll perform

  • Assist with process design including, development of mass and energy balances, flowsheets, P&IDs, design criteria, control philosophy and operating costs.
  • Supervise the process components of scoping and pre-feasibility studies.
  • Assist with metallurgical testwork programmes.
  • Assist with commissioning activities.
  • Interpret metallurgical testwork.
  • Preparation of process components of study documents.
  • Assist with process design including:
  1. Mass balances
  2. Flowsheets
  3. P&IDs
  4. Design Criteria
  5. Control Philosophy
  6. Calculations (Pumps, screens etc.)
  • Develop operating costs.
  • Develop operations manning requirements.
  • Assist with commissioning activities which will include onsite in remote locations.
  • Ensuring that design controls such as checking and design reviews take place in accordance with good project management practice.
  • Final documentation is correct and formally issued and archived.
  • Supervise the process components of scoping and pre-feasibility studies.
  • Complete selected sections of study documents.
  • Develop and maintain good professional relationships with clients.
  • Continuous Professional Development and Knowledge Sharing.

 The expertise you'll bring

  • Tertiary level education in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy
  • 3+ years’ proven industry experience, preferably in a minerals processing or project delivery environment.
  • Cape Town based.
  • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident. 
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables, within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software packages, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate ability to and/or proficiency in the use of specific proprietary software packages
  • relevant to the Engineering discipline; specifically for scheduling and cost control.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of contract standards and a sound background in contract
  • administration duties.
  • Technical background with a broad multi-disciplinary base, preferably in minerals processing
  • plants / infrastructure construction.
  • Ability to achieve budget manhours and milestone deliverable dates.
  • Ability to travel and work away from home.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently in a team and knowledge sharing environment.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and a practical approach to problem-solving
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment
  • Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion.
