Lycopodium is currently recruiting for an HSE Manager to join our growing HSE team in Mississauga, ON. 

Reporting to the President - Americas the HSE Manager will be responsible for ensuring the goals and objectives of Lycopodium Minerals Americas, as they relate to health, safety, security, and environment, are in alignment with Lycopodium’s policies and procedures and Client requirements and or other Project requirements.

The role includes support of Lycopodium’s HSE performance across all sites and Americas locations.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Assist in the preparation of HSE and security related components of tenders and proposals, including the assessment of Contractor HSE Management Systems and performance.
  • Review and from time to time, specifically prepare Project Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Management Plans and Emergency Response Plans Incorporating Lycopodium and Client requirements, statutory requirements and ongoing corporate learnings and improvements.
  • Prepare presentations, reports and statistics as required related to project HSE and security.
  • Be the focal point for monitoring, reporting, coordination of specialist consultants and other stakeholders and communication of security issues and findings in areas / countries of operation
  • Elevate in a timely manner any issues or concerns to senior management and the Crisis Management Team as required by established protocols.
  • Notify senior management of material incidents and ensure all incidents are properly reviewed and closed out across our Projects.
  • Advise project personnel of HSE and security issues observed during daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, reports, and audits across our Projects. Take corrective action where appropriate to rectify deficiencies in HSE and security plans and procedures being used on projects.
  • Maintain training needs and records for project and corporate personnel.

The expertise you'll bring

  • At least 15 years’ experience in various aspects of HSE Management in mineral processing and related industries.
  • Strong background and training in HSE systems and management.
  • Strong background in site construction with a broad multi-disciplinary base in mineral processing plant / infrastructure construction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Managerial leadership ability.
  • Capacity for clear thinking and planning.
  • Capacity to evaluate work practices, implement systems and suggest alternatives and refinements where necessary.
  • Ability to articulate and exemplify the purpose and ethos of the organisation.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision with consistently high degree of accuracy and producing a high quality of deliverables.
