Our Sydney office is on Kent Street - a short walk from Wynyard station and close to great cafes in Barangaroo. 

Luxury Escapes is an in-person company, with 4 days in the office and 1 day WFH. 

About the role  

You will contribute to the design and development of our data systems, helping to collect, process, store and retrieve data. You should be passionate about working with huge datasets, eager to learn and contribute to real-time streaming and customer behaviour analytics.

You will be someone who loves to bring data together and work on innovative Data Engineering solutions to answer business questions. 

You should have expertise in the creation and management of datasets, and the proven ability to translate the data into meaningful insights through collaboration with Data Analysts and Data Scientists. 

In this role, you will work on the development of data engineering solutions to complex questions, collaborating closely with team members and contributing to strategic initiatives. 

What you’ll do  

• Contribute to the design, operations, and improvements for the organisation's data warehouse infrastructure 
• Engineer solutions to aggregate and automate large-scale data flows from varying sources 
• Collaborate with Engineers, Analysts and Scientists in the organisation to construct complex data sources for algorithms and machine learning models
• Explore and learn the latest technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency 
• Build real-time streaming from internal and external sources to provide insights into the business 
• Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers. 

Key Skills Required:  

• Highly experienced in SQL - with demonstrated ability to craft efficient and optimised queries 
• Experience in data engineering, business intelligence, data science, data modelling or related field with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets 
• Knowledge of batch and streaming data architectures
• Experience with GCP/AWS 
• Excellent communicator with colleagues from engineering, analytics, and business backgrounds 
• Demonstrated strength in data modelling, ETL development, and data warehousing 
• Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles 
• Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing. 

Desirable Skills:  

• Experience with Snowplow 
• Experience with Meltano and Fivetran 
• Experience with DBT 
• Experience using big data technologies.
