Senior Product Designer - Design System

We're in search of a Senior Product Designer to lead our Design Systems initiative and champion our commitment to excellence in user experience. 

A bit about the role 

As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll take ownership of our LuxKit Design System, shaping its future and ensuring it evolves to meet the needs of our growing business. You’ll play a key role in maintaining consistency across our products, improving workflows between design and engineering, and making sure our design system is intuitive and scalable. Working closely with dedicated engineers and a product manager, you’ll drive collaboration to ensure LuxKit is a powerful, flexible tool that enhances both our design process and the final customer experience. 

** Luxury Escapes is an in-person company. We work and collaborate together, face to face in our Barangaroo office** 

Our Product Design team 

The Luxury Escapes Product Design Team is a group of passionate UX/UI experts who work closely together to craft exceptional experiences for our customers. 

Our focus is on creating a highly collaborative environment where mutual support and continuous learning are key, as well as having fun along the way. 

• We start each day with brief stand-ups to get everyone up to speed on ongoing projects. 
• We host weekly forums so that designers can showcase their work and get feedback from the whole team. 
• Every other week, we do team retros to acknowledge successes and explore areas for improvement. 

What you'll do as part of the role 

• Manage the LuxKit team and take ownership of the design system principles, processes, and roadmap. 
• Design and maintain Figma libraries, ensuring they are understandable for our designers and engineers. 
• Collaborate closely with dedicated senior front-end engineers and a product manager to ensure smooth integration of design components into the codebase. 
• Maintain documentation for utilizing and implementing components. 
• Organise and run regular workshops with the design and engineering teams to promote the best ways of working with LuxKit and Figma. 
• Partner with the delivery teams to plan and coordinate LuxKit initiatives in alignment with roadmap objectives. 
• Embrace an agile approach, swiftly adapting to new requirements and empowering product teams to deliver. 
• Proactively explore, research, and study existing design systems for inspiration to drive innovation and improvement. 

What we're looking for 

• Extensive experience in product design, with a primary focus on design systems & UI. 
• Expertise in leading design system initiatives, including component design, documentation, and implementation. 
• Advanced proficiency in Figma including design tokens (variables) and reusable components. 
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with the design team, product managers, engineers, and broader project stakeholders. 
• Deep understanding of responsive web design and native app design patterns. 
• Strong understanding of front-end development principles and experience collaborating with engineers. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. 
• Adaptability in navigating ambiguous situations, demonstrating a proactive approach to seeking out resources and solutions.
