The Logistics Specialist plays a vital role in coordinating and managing the logistics operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of materials, equipment, and supplies to construction sites. Your industry-specific knowledge will be critical in understanding the unique challenges and requirements of the construction logistics process.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the logistics operations for construction projects, including the transportation, delivery, and distribution of materials, equipment, and supplies to various construction sites.
  • Collaborate with project managers, suppliers, and contractors to develop effective logistics plans that ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials while meeting project deadlines.
  • Monitor and track inventory levels of construction materials, equipment, and supplies, and ensure their availability to support ongoing construction activities, while minimizing excess or shortage situations.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate transportation modes, such as trucks, ships, or helicopters, based on project requirements, budget constraints, and site accessibility.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to schedule deliveries, handle returns or replacements, and ensure that all materials and equipment meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, receipts, and distribution activities, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to assess logistics needs, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, procurement, and operations, to forecast material and equipment needs, anticipate logistical challenges, and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Implement best practices and industry standards for construction logistics, such as just-in-time delivery, lean supply chain management, and effective warehouse management.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and regulations related to construction logistics, and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience in logistics operations, preferably within the construction or a similar industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and supply chain processes, including sourcing, procurement, inventory management, and distribution.
  • Strong familiarity with logistics software and tools, such as transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Proficient in analyzing data, generating reports, and using data analytics tools to drive continuous improvement and optimize logistics processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and project teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, health and safety guidelines, and compliance considerations related to construction logistics.
  • Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on identifying and implementing innovative solutions to logistical challenges.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
