Graduate Nurse Program - Aged Care Stream

Overview

Kyabram District Health Service (KDHS) is a medium-sized rural health service that delivers a range of programs and services including acute, subacute, residential aged care and allied and primary health care services. KDHS has three campuses located in the townships of Kyabram, Stanhope and Tongala.

About the Role

We offer a well-supported Graduate Nurse Program over 54 weeks. This includes a structured orientation program, ongoing paid study days, educational opportunities and supernumerary days for the aged care rotation in both clinical and leadership roles.

The program offers you the opportunity to consolidate nursing theory and practice. You are supported by the Education team, Clinical Support Nurses and Nurse Unit Managers and preceptors in all clinical areas.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are offered the opportunity of ongoing employment opportunities in the desired area.

About you

  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Administration of Medication Scope of four & five routes for Aged Care
  • Basic knowledge of patient management and information systems. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and commitment to team objectives
  •  Demonstrated evidence of excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Competent computer skills and knowledge of patient management and information technology systems
  • Ability to work across KDHS in the event of clinical escalation

• Copy of two recent Acute clinical assessment documents (in pdf format)

• Two referees- 1 x nursing who have directly supervised your undergraduate clinical experience, preferably from a third year placement. 1 x referee from your current place of employment. Ensure you provide phone and email contacts
