About the role
The Commercial Operations Advisor is accountable for overseeing and managing the day-to-day commercial and operational aspects to comply with the underlying gas contracts for the Jemena Gas Markets portfolio.
Some key responsibilities include scheduling and tracking of the flow of gas to customers, customer relations, identifying efficient solutions to pipeline constraints and pipeline activity reconciliation. This role also manages relevant market data submissions, metering and data reconciliation, billing and maintenance notifications.
This is an 18-month fixed term contract and is also a hybrid position, with 2 days per week required in the office.
Key Responsibilities include
- Contract Administration and Management - Oversee the setup, maintenance, and compliance of gas contracts while supporting the administration and implementation of new or amended agreements
- Pipeline Operations Coordination - Manage the daily operations of pipelines, ensuring adherence to agreements and the safe and effective functioning of Jemena’s assets
- Incident Response and Emergency Support - Provide commercial advice and coordinate responses during pipeline incidents or emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- Customer and Stakeholder Communication - Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to manage nominations, communicate contract changes, and address operational queries
- Data Reconciliation and Reporting - Perform accurate data reconciliation, gas allocation, and contract calculations, while preparing customer and compliance reports
- Regulatory and Compliance Monitoring - Ensure operational activities align with contractual obligations, industry regulations, and Jemena’s standards for safety and compliance
About You
We are seeking a detailed-oriented problem solver with a strong customer focus. You’ll need resilience, adaptability and advanced analytical skills to manage Gas Markets operations, as well as the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and navigate complex challenges with precision. You will also possess the following skills and attributes:
- Trading and/or gas and energy industry experience desirable
- Data analysis experience, including the ability to prepare and present data
- Tertiary qualification in business, information systems, commercial discipline or significant trade experience in a related field
- Exposure to and an understanding of managing/administering contracts
- Understanding of energy markets and experience in energy operations, marketing, contract administration, financial administration, measurement or accounting in the energy industry is desirable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL is desirable
Please note this position works on a rotating roster system: 7 weeks working 4 days on & 4 days off with 12-hour shifts (can be done from home) and after-hours on-call. Then 8 weeks working Monday to Friday during normal hours.
