About the Role

The Commercial Associate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Business Development Manager and Commercial Managers across a broad range of commercial activities. This position offers significant opportunities for growth, particularly in developing key skills such as strategic thinking, judgement, and commercial negotiation. The ideal candidate is someone eager to enhance their decision-making capabilities, gain deeper insights into market dynamics, and strengthen their ability to influence business profitability.

As a Commercial Associate, you will be responsible for the commercial administration of assigned Pipeline Assets, which includes contract management, customer engagement, market insights, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with teams across Gas Markets, offering you the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the sector, optimise asset performance, and contribute directly to business success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and managing contracts, ensuring all obligations are clearly summarised and documented.
  • Analysing financial performance and preparing reports that provide insights for decision-making.
  • Organising customer events and creating marketing material.
  • Supporting the development of business cases and internal presentations, honing your ability to present and influence stakeholders.
  • Contributing to regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance and industry best practices.
  • Assisting in negotiations for new business opportunities, developing your commercial negotiation skills.

 

About You

  • Some experience in either legal, banking, financial, energy, commercial real estate, construction or engineering industries.
  • Attention to detail. Either through experience in working with legal documents, financial accounting or drafting engineering procedures with precision.
  • Experience in analysis including development and application of insights.
  • Interest in contract administration, negotiation and interpretation.
  • Financial acumen and a broad understanding of financial management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, colleagues, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous exposure to energy markets ideal but not necessary.
