THE ROLE 

JD Sports is searching for a passionate Financial Control & Risk Specialist to join our growing Finance team in Sydney! In this role, you'll support with the development, maintenance, and testing of an industry-leading Financial Risk Management Framework (FRMF), ensuring compliance with relevant legislation across ANZ and SEA. 

Reporting into the Chief Financial & Operating Officer APAC, this role will be responsible for, but not limited to: 

  • Develop and sustain industry leading financial control policies and procedures, including the design and operationalisation of risk controls matrix, test script, process flowchart, Management Review Control documents (MRCs) and IPEs 
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the annual financial assurance test plan 
  • Deliver financial risk assessment and scoping process, including on current and emerging risks that matter 
  • Provide monthly updates on ICFR rollout status across the APAC region to the Group ICFR team in UK at the ICFR project meetings 
  • Deliver identification of controls to mitigate key risks 
  • Assist in root-cause analysis and propose constructive and practical improvements to prevent reoccurrence 
  • Deliver innovative approaches to controls and assurance, including advanced analytics  
  • Reassess and update the FRMF based on business changes to remain risk focused 
  • Conduct training on business process management and internal control principles  
  • Coordinate and review and challenge management attestation of control effectiveness 
  • Monitor and validate timely and effective remediation of control deficiencies 
  • Deliver continuous improvement and leading-edge change initiatives and support positive risk culture  
  • Continuously assess development in key legislations and manage compliance obligations  
  • Manage ad-hoc projects as assigned 

WHO YOU ARE  

  • 5+ years of experience with a focus on financial risk management and internal controls, and/or assurance 
  • Experience in the SOx and/or other equivalent regulatory compliance frameworks 
  • Hands on risk and internal controls experience including design and implementation of internal controls frameworks according to SOx or COSO  
  • Experience in Internal and External Audit engagements would be relevant 
  • CA/CPA qualified
