All About that Base
We formed Base Design and Construct to provide an honest, high quality and value-adding service to the commercial market. The Interior Designer Role
As an Interior Designer, you will deliver exceptional design outcomes. You will collaborate closely with clients to fully understand their functional needs, aesthetic preferences, and project aspirations. Space planning will be a key part of your work, ensuring the design optimally meets client requirements.
In this role, you will develop a design concept that blends both visual and aspirational elements. Upon client approval of the preliminary layout and concept, you will also complete the documentation of design details for construction, coordinating with required consultants and authorities to secure necessary approvals. Additionally, you will provide guidance throughout the construction process, offering support to both clients and the build team to ensure the integrity of the concept is maintained from start to finish. Our team celebrates the success of our projects by attending several openings of the spaces everyone has helped to create, witnessing designs come to fruition and marking the achievement of a rewarding and collaborative journey.
You will work alongside a team of 3 other designers including a Senior Design Manager. Our outstanding team also includes an Estimator, Contract Administrator, Operations Manager and Construction Manager. You will also liaise with our in house construction team who proudly deliver Base Design and Construct projects.
You
You will have the ability to envision meaningful, creative concepts for projects. It is supremely important that you can uphold a delicate balance, where creative ideas flourish and projects stay on course.
To excel, you will have
- a degree in interior design, proficiency in Revit including managing templates and revisions
- space planning skills
- experience in workplace design
- confidence in overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
A solid understanding of the NCC and Australian Standards related to commercial design would be a strong advantage. Confident client management, a collaborative communication style, and excellent project management skills are essential, as is the ability to balance design quality with practical timelines.
In addition to a strong work ethic and accountability, a great sense of humor is really important to us! we take our work seriously but we have fun and enjoy coming to work! You will need to be available to travel occasionally to project sites along the east coast of Australia. Experience in graphic design, and Adobe InDesign would be a great advantage.

This is a long term, stable role with negotiable work hours, 5 days per week with flexibility around set hours. In terms of start date we are planning ahead for the beginning of 2025. The location of the work is onsite at our Woolloongabba office, however, in the future, some work from home hours will be accessible. Parking is provided onsite.
