All About that Base D&C

We formed Base Design & Construct Group (Base D&C) to provide an honest, quality and value-adding service to the commercial building market. Our positive team culture, client focused approach and in-house build team are the cornerstones of our continued growth. The Base D&C service comprises in-house design, building and fit out for commercial buildings including complete project management throughout Brisbane and the east coast of Australia. The Role

We have a stable, long term position available for 2-3 experienced Carpenters as we continue to grow our team. Working alongside our close knit Base D&C crew, you will work on a variety of assignments from design + construct projects, turn-key office and shop fit outs, commercial building refurbishments and upgrades, de-fit and make good works, and tenancy alterations. All of our work is referred, and we work with a brilliant group of engaged, repeat clients and a very strong pipeline of work, throughout the rest of 2024 and well into 2025, predominantly in the mental health consulting space.

Our work is across the east coast of Australia and travel to regional areas is required which attracts additional benefits and loadings. This role includes all aspects of carpentry and commercial building – interiors.

For example, you will:-

·        Construct partition walls and suspended ceilings

·        Install custom joinery and furniture

·        Hang doors, fit locks, fit skirtings

·        Install various types of decorative feature wall cladding and feature ceilings

Upcoming design and construct fit out projects locked in for 2024 (from now) until early 2025 are in Brisbane CBD, the Sunshine Coast, Bathurst, Dubbo, Ashfield (NSW), Chatswood (NSW) and, ranging from 250sqm – 700sqm.  Further projects throughout 2025 in design and estimation phase are located in the Brisbane metropolitan area, regional Queensland, Tasmania and New South Wales. Our office will close down between 20 December 2024 and 6 January 2025 and we can provide consistent work either side of these dates.

You

You will be a Carpenter with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience being preferred and a willingness to travel to projects across the east coast if required.  

A background in commercial building and maintenance would be a strong advantage but we also welcome applications from residential carpenters who are agile and adaptable to move into the commercial space. We are seeking driven tradesmen with a sense of humour, professional presentation and positive outlook to match with our team.

You may be contractor, gang, or sole trader who wants to partner with a highly collaborative, reputable, professional and fun team with outstanding work conditions, and a consistent pipeline of work. A trade background with QBCC licence, your own tools, drivers licence and own work vehicle will be essential. 

With an organised, practical approach, you will be willing to share your knowledge with a team of motivated young carpenters and apprentices. Weekend work is available for those seeking additional overtime hours (and rates) and outside of hours work (before 5am or after 5pm) is required on occasion which also attracts higher rates.

This is stable consistent work with negotiable and flexible work hours, very competitive rates based on your experience and of course, superannuation. Parking costs are reimbursed.
