The role

We currently have an opportunity for a laboratory technician to join our technical team on a permanent full-time basis. Working in the laboratory at Chipping Norton, this position will see you gain exposure to the compliance testing of soils and aggregates, concrete and other construction materials.

Your primary duties will include a broad range of soils and aggregate testing, assisting in trial mixing, sample preparation, equipment calibration and computer-based analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory testing of concrete, aggregates, and associated construction materials, required by projects and internal (ITP’s), note- training will be provided.
  • Analysis and reporting of accurate results.
  • Adhere to procedures and work systems.
  • Perform equipment calibration and basic maintenance as required.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Assist the NSW technical and laboratory team with ISO/IEC 17025 NATA accreditation and quality compliance to ISO9001 for the manufacture of concrete and quarry products.

What you will need to succeed

  • Entry level candidates are encouraged to apply, all training will be provided.
  • Experience in construction materials testing – concrete, soils and aggregates are preferred but not essential.
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and the environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical thinking skills, able to follow instructions from supervisor and from testing Standards.
  • Ability to self-motivate and take initiative and work in high pace work culture.
  • Able to work alone and/or as a team member.
  • Australian driver’s license
  • Construction Industry White Card being an advantage, but not essential.
  • Certificate III in Laboratory Skills or Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques being an advantage, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office being an advantage.
  • Knowledge concrete and aggregate testing being an advantage, but not essential training will be provided.
