What's so exciting about this role?

The Investigations & Compliance Advisor is a critical team member within hummgroup’s Legal and Compliance function that supports our consumer business and ensuring compliance with regulations. The role operates as a key point of insight into our customer experience and the compliance with our regulatory environment of our merchant network. You will actively participate in assisting and supporting colleagues across the organisation to ensure consistency of approach and adherence to Merchant Accreditation, Onboarding and Monitoring Policy and hummgroup’s regulatory compliance and monitoring commitments.

The role requires the ability to learn quickly when facing new problems, being open minded, highly adaptable to rapid change and the ability to quickly grasp new ideas. In addition, the role will require an investigative mindset and the ability to interrogate and respond to other stakeholders within the business to ensure the best outcomes for our customers.

As an Investigations & Compliance Advisor, you will use your advanced analytical skills to provide high quality compliance and risk evaluations and advice to assist the Risk & Compliance Manager and other relevant hummgroup stakeholders with relevant regulatory authorities. 

What does an average day look like?

No day is average at hummgroup, but here’s an idea of what you can expect to do in this role:

  • Identifying merchant non-compliance via phone calls and emails to consumer business customers
  • Identifying potential compliance risks including monitoring of linked credit provider obligations
  • Reviewing new Merchant information and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and our merchant agreements
  • Analysing data, produce meaningful reporting and deliver insightful reporting
  • Assisting the Risk & Compliance Manager to review, maintain, improve, and implement hummgroup’s compliance framework and internal policies
  • Exercising due diligence and care in the formulation of written correspondence
  • Performing investigations and assessments, including conducting internal reviews and audits
  • Liaising and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders by face-to-face collaboration
  • Conducting second line compliance controls testing and reporting

You’re a multi-tasker with an eye for detail driven to meeting deadlines and deliverables while keeping calm under pressure. You have a curious mindset with demonstrated experience in judgement and decision making including a high level of customer service and strong probing skills. You are passionate about compliance.

We are also looking for someone who brings:

  • Regulatory knowledge: Maintaining a thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape within financial services
  • Proven line 2 regulatory compliance experience and/or controls testing
  • Strong administrative skills, including drafting of correspondence, and computer literacy, including a thorough understanding of Microsoft 365 especially excel
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written
  • A minimum of 2 years +, line 2 compliance experience within a Financial Services environment and / or exposure to Buy Now Pay Later or Credit Card products
  • Experience in direct customer engagement, ideally within a financial services environment
  • Excellent time management, business writing and communication skills
  • A tertiary qualification in a compliance and risk management, auditing, quality assurance, or legal with a good level of industry experience or equivalent is desirable.
