This role is your opportunity to make a significant impact by providing legal advice to the business, addressing emerging legal issues impacting the Fund.

The opportunity

Are you a passionate and driven junior lawyer looking to make a significant impact in the financial services industry? Hostplus is seeking a talented individual with experience in financial services and exposure to superannuation to join our dynamic Legal team. This is your opportunity to contribute to the success of one of Australia's leading superannuation funds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality and timely legal advice to the business, addressing emerging legal issues impacting the Fund.
  • Review product disclosure statements, financial services guides, target market determinations, and other financial services collateral.
  • Review member communications, marketing materials, and press releases.
  • Develop fact sheets and guidance notes for use by member-facing staff.
  • Assist with the development of, and undertake, internal staff training sessions and programs.
  • Assist in managing litigation.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Legal, Governance & Resolutions.

About you

  • +2 PQE experience in superannuation (preferred), financial services law or commercial law.
  • Strong technical legal skills and in-depth knowledge of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 (Cth), and APRA prudential standards.
  • Ability to influence others and develop strong working relationships.
  • Robust negotiation, drafting, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong common-sense judgment with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to operate autonomously and apply sound commercial and risk judgment to various situations.
  • Degree in Law and Legal Practice.
