This Insurance Claims Specialist position is responsible for supporting the Insurance Claims and ServicePlus business unit with the completion of a variety of key insurance obligations and accountabilities across the entire claims team. The role will provide high-level technical claims support, manages a small portfolio of complex claims, provide coaching and training along with performing a range of quality assurance support activities for the team. The role requires a deep understanding of insurance and superannuation policies, claims handling procedures, and the ability to manage multiple complex tasks efficiently. The role will provide key support to review complaints and escalations along with authorise claim decisions and benefit payment approvals. The role is responsible for supporting and maintaining a culture of high professional standards and service excellence within the Claims team, identifying improvement opportunity areas (process, systems, skills) within the team and will act as a business SME on related projects and programs ensuring high quality service delivery for our members.
The opportunity
In this role, you will provide technical insurance and superannuation advice, manage complex claims, and ensure exceptional customer service. You will coach and mentor claims staff, ensure compliance with service standards and legislative obligations, and support process improvements to enhance member service and reduce costs. Additionally, you will provide regular reporting, analyze quality and process adherence, and liaise with insurers to ensure efficient claims assessment.
You will also contribute to the Fund's insurance strategy, develop strong relationships with key partners, and provide input into insurance processes, policies, and products. Your responsibilities include interpreting technical insurance policy issues, supporting regulatory compliance, and identifying opportunities for process improvements. You will lead the Claims team, maintain a focus on quality and innovation, and enhance the insurance administration and claims function.
About you
You bring over 5 years of experience in superannuation and life claims administration, with at least three years in a Senior Claims position. Your technical proficiency in assessing all types of life claims is well-demonstrated, and you have proven experience in relationship and case management. You possess a detailed understanding of the superannuation industry and associated legislation, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and adhere to strict deadlines.
Your educational background includes tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, with RG146 and AIA qualifications being highly regarded. Your expertise and qualifications make you a valuable asset in driving excellence within the claims function.
