The Opportunity

Our Perth Branch has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Operational Improvement Specialist to join our dynamic Fleet Management System (FMS) team. Working with the Operational Improvements team you will be responsible for the delivery of mining consultancy services to our clients, focusing on the optimization of fleet management and mining operations. This role requires a strong background in mining operations, mine control, and business improvement initiatives to help clients enhance productivity, safety, and cost efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their operational challenges and goals
  • Working closely with Mine Controllers and Operational Staff, conduct detailed analysis of mining operations to identify areas for improvement
  • Provide expert advice on fleet management and operational improvements, leveraging Wenco FMS capabilities
  • Develop tailored solutions to optimize mining operations, maximize productivity and reduce operational costs for our clients, assisting with implementation when and where required
  • Assist clients in the effective use and integration of the Wenco FMS into their operations
  • Provide training and support to mine controllers and operational staff on FMS functionalities and best practices
  • Utilize data analytics tools, including Power BI, to generate insightful reports and dashboards for informed decision-making
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery & adherence to quality standards
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to drive project success
  • Document project progress, challenges, and successes for future reference and continuous improvement

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Significant operational experience in the mining industry, with a focus on open-pit mining
  • Hands-on FMS experience as a Mine Controller (using any FMS), with a solid understanding of fleet management systems
  • Proven track record in business improvement and operational optimization in mining
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges
  • Strong written, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and internal teams
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites as required to provide on-site support and consultancy services

Desirable:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in Power BI or similar data visualization and reporting tools
  • Experience working with Wenco FMS and/or across multiple Fleet Management Systems is highly advantageous
