The Opportunity

Hitachi is actively seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team in the position of New Builds Supervisor for our state-of-the-art Wacol site. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organising and supervising the Brisbane New Builds business to meet customer requirements, while working closely with the Service Manager to achieve department budgets and allotted KPI’s.


As a key member of the team you will also be responsible for:

  • Ensuring HCA employees and contractors comply with all WHS responsibilities and that a safety-first culture is a consistent behaviour within the department
  • Maintain work schedules to ensure efficient utilisation of equipment and resources
  • Working collaboratively with the recruitment team on yearly Apprenticeship programs
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day activities of workshop personnel and ensure labour is used most effectively
  • Reliably communicating with both internal and external stakeholders on topics pertaining to customers, machine performance, product, workmanship, and warranty
  • The direct management of the new builds delivery team including people topics such as resource planning, recruitment, growth & development, training & performance management
  • Prioritizing delivery efficiency with a strong focus on maximizing KPI performance
  • Contributing to & strategically working to deliver the New Builds financial forecast/budget
  • Collaborating with & satisfying the enquiries of the Hitachi sales team
  • The continuous improvement of Hitachi processes

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant diesel or mobile plant mechanic trade qualifications
  • Similar supervisory experience with strong leadership skills and the ability to get the team to work cohesively
  • Demonstrated safety focus with a strong understanding of WHS principles
  • Experience in the maintenance of mining & construction equipment (Hitachi exposure would be a distinct advantage)
  • Excellent time management with the ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities
  • The ability to use initiative to contribute and support continuous improvement, and drive change
  • A strong attention to detail
