The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a trade qualified Diesel Mechanic to join the Workshop team as our Leading Hand based in the Somerton branch. This role will see you lead a highly skilled workshop crew performing assembly, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of construction equipment.

Reporting to the Branch Co-ordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team Workshop Technicians to meet, deliver and exceed service expectations
  • Driving efficiency within the team to meet tight deadlines whilst ensuring employees comply with all WHS responsibilities and that a safety first culture is a consistent behaviour within the department
  • Liaising with technical support staff and coordinate diagnostic, maintenance and repair work
  • Maintaining work schedules to ensure efficient utilization of equipment and resources
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day activities of workshop personnel and ensure labour is used effectively
  • Liaise with stakeholders pertaining to machine performance, product, workmanship, and warranty

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Previous experience leading a team to achieve and exceed set goals
  • Hold relevant Australian (or Australian recognised) diesel or mobile plant trade qualifications
  • Safety first mindset - ensure the HCA Safety Culture is embraced, displayed, and driven from within
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to build long term relationships
  • The ability to navigate complex technical issues to deliver high quality outcomes in repair and maintenance services with minimal to zero rework
  • Excellent technical knowledge of Hitachi mining and construction equipment would be highly advantageous
