The Opportunity
We are currently looking to appoint a Design Manager to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for design quality and buildability of a project including liaising with clients and preparing clients briefs, liaising with design consultants and in house estimators, cost planners and programmers as well as coordinating the preparation and documentation, including BIM, CAD and other software systems.
This role will be based in Canberra, with relocation assistance available for the right candidate.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage consultant engagement and design process
- Manage preparation of preliminary project evaluations and feasibility studies
- Preparation of scope of work and design brief
- Manage development of preliminary design concepts
- Client Relationship management
- Manage authority approvals including Development Approvals, Building Approvals and local government requirements
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
- 2+ years’ experience within a construction company as a design manager or coordinator (or 5+ years’ experience as a design consultant with coordination / leadership skills on Design & Construct projects).
- Commercial acumen within the building industry
- Good knowledge of Design & Construction Projects
- An understanding of a construction process from start of tender to project completion
- Demonstrated capability to lead and manage a team of consultants
- A sound understanding and working knowledge of technology relevant to the role
- Experience in education and health projects
