Senior Project Engineer

Hindmarsh is looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join the team delivering a major $300M health and aged care development in Sydney.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer looking for more than just their next project. The scale and complexity of this development will provide exposure across all aspects of major project delivery, while giving you the opportunity to take on genuine leadership responsibility within a large and experienced project team.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll take ownership of major construction packages from procurement through to completion, coordinating design, technical and site requirements while helping drive program, quality and delivery outcomes.

Importantly, you'll also play a leadership role within the engineering team, mentoring Project Engineers, Site Engineers and Cadets and developing the people management and decision-making skills that will prepare you for the next stage of your career.

You will be responsible for:

• Taking ownership of major construction packages from procurement through to completion
• Driving programming, coordination and technical outcomes across your areas of responsibility
• Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, Design Manager and commercial team to resolve complex construction challenges
• Coordinating consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve project milestones
• Developing scopes of work and providing technical input into procurement and tender assessments
• Managing RFIs, shop drawings, technical submissions, ITPs and quality requirements
• Proactively identifying and resolving design, technical and constructability issues
• Managing subcontractor performance to achieve safety, quality, program and project requirements
• Providing technical guidance and support to site teams throughout construction
• Mentoring and developing Project Engineers, Site Engineers and Cadets and helping create a collaborative, high-performing engineering team

We are looking for someone who has:

• Significant project engineering experience within commercial construction, ideally with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractor
• Experience working on large and complex construction projects
• Strong technical construction knowledge and the capability to take ownership of major work packages
• Experience coordinating design, consultants, subcontractors and site teams
• Strong planning, programming and problem-solving capability
• The confidence to lead, make decisions and support the development of junior team members
• A genuine ambition to continue developing your leadership capability and progress your career
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent
