The Accountant is integral to supporting the sound financial operation of HIF as it continues to build on its success and take advantage of future opportunities. The Accountant provides support to, and receives guidance from, the Finance Manager in the completion of all regular and ad-hoc accounting required to produce the monthly management accounts and regular statutory and regulatory reporting.

Essential responsibilities that will ensure your success in this role;

  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes, including preparation of general ledger journals, accruals, and prepayments, along with the delivery of financial reports in full compliance with reporting standards.
  • Prepare and lodge statutory and regulatory returns (e.g. BAS, FBT, income tax and ambulance levy), and assist in preparing quarterly and annual regulatory reports in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance of the fixed asset register.
  • Assisting with the annual budget preparation, collaborating with the Finance Manager to achieve required deadlines.
  • Provide insightful financial management reporting, including variance analysis, to support business decision-making.
  • Drive continuous process and reporting improvements, maintain up-to-date documentation, and respond to audit queries as required.

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role preferably in health insurance, financial services, or a service organisation

 Desirable:

  • Experience with MYOB EXO (highly regarded)
  • Progressing towards CPA or CA accreditation.
