SAFETY OFFICER

That’s where you come in! We’re looking for a Safety Officer to champion workplace safety, risk management, and continuous improvement across our business. If you love rolling up your sleeves, tackling challenges, and making a real difference, this is the role for you!

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Building a Safety-First Culture 🚦

✅ Supporting the safety strategic plan, ensuring safety is woven into daily operations.

✅ Training and coaching managers and supervisors to lead by example and meet safety obligations.

✅ Ensuring 100% site safety inductions for all employees and contractors.

Incident & Risk Management ⚠️

✅ Investigating incidents, hazards, and near misses, identifying root causes, and implementing preventative measures.

✅ Managing reporting processes and compliance via Done Safe.

✅ Liaising with SafeWork and regulatory bodies when required.

Safe Work Systems & Compliance ✅

✅ Ensuring HFM’s work systems and procedures meet legal and regulatory standards.

✅ Conducting regular site risk assessments and implementing corrective actions.

✅ Ensuring all new equipment is risk assessed, SOPs are developed, and staff are trained.

Contractor & Chain of Responsibility (CoR) Management 🏗️

✅ Ensuring 100% of contractors are approved, inducted, and compliant.

✅ Conducting regular contractor audits and maintaining an approved consultant/contractor schedule.

✅ Monitoring compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and ensuring everyone in the supply chain plays their part.

Preventative Maintenance & Reporting 🛠️

✅ Monitoring the preventative maintenance program and ensuring non-compliance is reported.

✅ Working with Facilities Managers to maintain forklifts, racking, fire safety equipment, refrigeration, alarms, and high-risk items.

✅ Providing health & safety reports, risk committee KPIs, and board updates.

Construction Safety Oversight 🏗️

✅ Managing site risk registers and ensuring safety is built into project design and delivery.

✅ Overseeing site security and contractor controls to meet regulatory requirements.

✅ Ensuring project-specific Safety Management Plans are in place and followed.

Continuous Improvement & Best Practice 🔄

✅ Identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending innovative safety solutions.

✅ Tracking continuous improvement activities and ensuring they drive real results.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

✔️ A can-do attitude – someone who’s happy to roll up their sleeves and get things done!

✔️ Proven experience as a Safety Officer in retail, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing.

✔️ Strong knowledge of hazardous materials, risk assessment, and compliance.

✔️ Experience writing reports, policies, and SOPs for workplace safety.

✔️ Excellent data analysis skills to report on safety metrics and identify trends.

✔️ Ability to train, coach, and educate teams on WHSE compliance.

✔️ Strong organizational and time management skills to juggle competing priorities.

✔️ Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.

✔️ Experience in construction and retail fit-outs would be a bonus!

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

🎓 Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51315 or BSB60615).

🚗 Valid Driver’s Licence & willingness to travel between sites.
