Harris Farm Markets is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic team. This role will be instrumental in supporting the Head of Gourmet Buying with promotional management, product management, inventory control, and category planning. Key Responsibilities:

Promotional Management

  • Develop and manage the promotional calendar by analysing supplier submissions and obtaining approval from the buyer.
  • Order weekly promotions with accurate cost prices and forecasted volumes, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Provide forecasted promotional quantities for buyer approval.
  • Assist buyers with promotional paperwork and respond promptly to store promotional requests.

Product Management

  • Effectively launch new products and ensure timely & concise communication with stores.
  • Oversee the process for product deletions, including system administration and clearance promotions.
  • Address store queries on barcodes promptly via work chat and complete administration for trade agreements.

Inventory Management

  • Collaborate with the buying team to maintain optimal stock levels in stores.

Category/Space Planning

  • Support range review calendars and assist with data analysis and store communications.
  • Lead and demonstrate effective merchandising for new range reviews and store layouts.

Additional Duties:

  • Undertake any other tasks as required by the business, including new store openings.
  • Manage your own schedule and support the buyer’s with prioritising tasks.
  • Positive reputation as a supportive and inclusive team member.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in buying, retail, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Can demonstrate alignment with HFM culture and values
  • Extensive retail buying experience negotiating and partnering with FMCG suppliers as well as identifying essential new products to introduce
  • Have had full P&L exposure and be able demonstrate excellent commercial performance across a whole category.
  • A passion for food.
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills within team and across functions.
  • Proactive and agile approach.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in an everchanging environment.
  • Strong organisation skills.
  • Strong understanding of supply & demand dynamics
  • Passion for growing a profitable category and market share

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound computer skills including Excel
  • Current drivers’ licence and ability to travel to multiple sites
