Our Shop Assistants
- Provide great customer service by being friendly, responsive, approachable, and helpful.
- Be flexible and willing to work in any area of the store such as registers, filling fridges and grocery shelves, helping to unload trucks in the back dock, filling in fruit and veg or even collecting trolleys.
- Maintain a good knowledge of the products we sell by completing our internal training but also having a genuine interest in good food and a huge variety of fruit & veg, cheese, meat, seafood, and grocery products.
- Accurately process sales through the register and ensure careful cash handling.
- Surprise and delight the customers by making sure our delicious products are well stocked and fresh.
- Ensure fresh and appealing displays by keeping fridges and shelves clean and stock rotated.
- Maintain accurate signage and pricing, particularly with any specials.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised working and shopping environment.
Skills / attributes to be a Harris Farmer
- A team player, one of our core values is being in it together.
- Flexibility in terms of hours able to work as our shops are open 7 days a week including public holidays and weekends.
- Able to provide great customer service by being approachable and friendly.
- Good work ethic and reliable.
- Stamina as much of the day will be spent on your feet, serving customers, re-stocking shelves, lifting shopping bags and/or items from stock rooms.
- Literacy skills as you need to be able to read product labels.
- Computer skills and ability to use devices to conduct stocktakes.
- Patience and ability to remain calm under pressure and provide constructive answers to enquiries and complaints.
- Organisation and time management making sure to complete tasks in designated time frames whilst ensuring a good shopping experience for customers.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Problem solving such as addressing customer concerns, repurposing excess stock.
