The Role

As a Junior Buyer at Harris Farm Markets, you will play a pivotal role in supporting strategic category plans that enhance our offerings and delight our customers. You'll work collaboratively with suppliers and retail teams to ensure our categories remain relevant and profitable. Your responsibilities will include managing KPIs related to sales, margins, and profitability, all while building strong, lasting relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Category Management

  • Support strategic plans for managed categories, ensuring they align with the company’s overall goals. Deliver annual strategic plans and achieve milestones for profitability and customer satisfaction.

Ranging & Product Development

  • Create a comprehensive range review schedule and curate innovative product selections that surprise and delight our customers, both seasonally and year-round.

Pricing & Promotions

  • Set competitive pricing strategies for products, work with suppliers on promotional activities, and meet profit goals.

Merchandising

  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure effective product positioning and displays.

Supplier Relationships

  • Manage and develop your supplier portfolio, establish long-term partnerships, and negotiate favorable cost prices.

Buying & Inventory Management

  • Oversee promotional orders, manage master data for auto-replenishment, and ensure timely order placement to maintain stock levels.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Foster collaboration and clear communication with all key stakeholders, optimizing selling channels to achieve business objectives.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional tasks as directed.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Alignment with Harris Farm Markets' culture and values.
  • Extensive retail buying experience negotiating and partnering with FMCG suppliers as well as identifying essential new products to introduce 
  • Have had full P&L exposure and be able demonstrate excellent commercial performance across a whole category. 
  • Passion for food and the retail industry.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Proactive, agile, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable with computer systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple sites.
