The Role

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for managing daily operations, which may include receiving, picking or dispatch activities. They will oversee a team of Warehouse Assistants, acting as the first point of contact for team members to raise concerns or report issues. A Supervisor is expected to manage and motivate the team effectively, ensuring all tasks align with safety protocols, quality standards and operation procedures set by HFM. They will also effectively address team dynamics and resolve challenges as needed, working closely with the Department Manager to create and maintain a positive, productive work environment.

The Role & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the efficient operations of the warehouse, ensuring alignment with HFM safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks, actively monitoring workflow to maximise productivity.
  • Complete required administrative tasks with D365, maintaining accurate inventory and transaction records to support smooth warehouse operations.
  • Appropriately manage and record stock, ensuring inventory is correctly located and labelled, and wastage is minimized.
  • Communicate effectively and frequently with stakeholders to facilitate efficient operations including buyers, department managers and warehouse management.
  • Act as a first point of contact for team members, addressing any concerns or issues promptly and professionally, with support from the Department Manager as needed.
  • Lead Warehouse Assistants, ensuring they understand their roles, responsibilities and performance expectations.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to team members to enhance skill sets and promote adherence to warehouse procedure.
  • Maintain effective communication lines with the Department Manager and Warehouse Manager, ensuring they are informed of any challenges or issues that may impact team performance or warehouse operations.
  • Ensure work areas are consistently clean, organized, and compliant with WHS and Food Safety regulations.
  • Perform regular checks to maintain a hazard-free environment and implement GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) processes, including proper product handling, FIFO (First In, First Out) practices, accurate stock labelling, and defect-free packaging inspections.

About you

  • Proven experience in warehouse management or a similar leadership role.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and oversee multiple operational areas efficiently.
  • Proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing effective solutions to maintain operational flow.
  • High level of accuracy in monitoring inventory, overseeing administrative tasks, and ensuring quality standards.
  • Competency in using warehouse management systems, such as D365 or similar software, for inventory and operational tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control practices, including FIFO, stock rotation, and efficient handling procedures.
  • Forklift license and experience is preferable.
  • A go-getter attitude – no task is too big or small.
  • Flexible availability to work across 7 days, weekends and public holidays.
