The role

Are you tired of the bureaucracy and politics of big firms? We’re looking for an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join our rapidly expanding team. We are a flexible, diverse group, and are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, agile, and fun. 

This is an Associate or Senior Associate position working with Corin Maberly. Corin specialises in corporate and commercial law, as well as technology and telecommunications law, and government procurement (with a particular focus on defence contracting). Corin is an expert in structuring complex transactions, running negotiations and advising on risk and stakeholder management.

Corin’s corporate experience includes advising clients on acquisitions and dispositions, joint venture arrangements, corporate restructuring, other major commercial transactions and contracts, and on governance arrangements. In the telecommunications sector, Corin is regularly involved in high-value, business-critical projects such as joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, financing arrangements, procurement projects and regulatory work for clients throughout the Asia Pacific region. He has extensive expertise in technology transactions and advises on both the buy-side and sell-side of transactions for software, hardware and services transactions and technology outsourcing matters.

In this role you would be exposed to:

  • A high level of client contact
  • Commercial transactional project matters, corporate/commercial matters, government procurement work and a range of agreements including licensing agreements, service agreements
  • Both New Zealand and offshore clients
  • A friendly and supportive team, with a high level of autonomy

We’re looking for someone: 

  • with 5+ years’ experience in Commercial Law;
  • technology expertise beneficial but not necessary;
  • who has a strong sense of purpose, ambition, confidence and a proactive approach to your work;
  • with a desire to work with existing and new clients on business growth; and
  • friendly, with a sense of humour, down to earth/authentic, who is also hard working, focused and ambitious.
