THE ROLE:

Growthbuilt has experienced a milestone growth over the last year, growing to 170+ employees with forecasted revenue of up to $378 million. With that be said, our Estimating team needs a bit of love and support by adding an additional member to a well established high performing team, 

The team currently lead by our Preconstruction Manager who can be seen shouting his team their morning coffees and loves good conversation, a veteran Senior Estimator with 13 years tenure at Growthbuilt and a fast-paced high performing Estimator who is step away from being a Senior Estimator. The team is currently working their way through various tenders across multiple sectors as Growthbuilt try to diversify their construction portfolio. Project values anywhere between $20-$150 million.

This role will be reporting to the Preconstruction Manager who will support your transition into your new role. Your first month will have you working on 1-2 tenders across the residential, retail, aged care, education, and health care space.

Once you are comfortable and settled in, this role does offer a hybrid option of working from home 1 day a week.

What your day-to-day might look like:

• Budget Estimates -using relevant market rates from recent projects where applicable and obtaining subcontract input as required
• Lump Sum Tenders – pricing trades which will be adjusted against sub contact trade coverage where possible.
• Take lead on priority bids and coordinate bid teams.
• Reviewing and analysing subcontractor quotes.
• Reviewing and pricing preliminaries and supervision & labour
• Provide mentoring and support to junior staff
• Preparing benchmarking reports for reference by management and informing business strategy
• Undertaking site visits with subcontractors and assessing access, buildability and temporary services locations
• Reviewing risks and opportunities and as appropriate seeking subcontract market cover
• Presenting and interviewing with clients and driving closure of bids
• Looking at value engineering opportunities by evaluating the proposed outline, processes, construction management and alternative materials during estimate and/or post-estimate.
• Preparing elemental analysis against similar projects, where required
• Reconciling and analysing actual budgets against original budgets, where required
• Completing estimate review documentation and preparing information for presentation and review by management

ABOUT YOU

• Degree qualifications in Engineering or Construction Management 
• Minimum 8 years post-graduate experience in an estimating role within a tier 1-2 working across the new build environment 
• Successful record in winning tenders to the project value of $20-$150 million
• Energetic, Resilient and can work under pressure in a high-volume environment
• Previous experience doing site inspections as you will need to need to inspect site from time to time
• Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisation skills
• A deep understanding of construction processes and pricing trends.
• Experience in working with junior staff and building teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to present bids to prospective clients
