Graduate Civil Engineer

Civil Construction at GemLife is made up of a dynamic team of surveyors, engineers, site supervisors, leading hands, plant operators, and skilled labourers who collaborate seamlessly on every project facet, from initial acquisition to the grandeur of construction. As one pivotal division within our expansive development company, we specialize in the creation and operation of luxury lifestyle resorts.

An amazing opportunity for a graduate to embark on their career and learn about Civil Construction from all angles. The job will initially be based in the head office at Helensvale where you will be under the mentorship and guidance of both the National Civil Manager and the Civil Construction Manager, who will take you through the principles of their roles giving you the background to the actual civil construction on site, before being on-site and becoming part of the civil construction engineering team.

You will learn how developments are put together to include, but not limited to the following.

• Acquisitions
• Designs and Approvals
• Implementation
• Delivery of Resorts
• Overview of Structural and commercial engineering
• Cost Planning and Estimating
• Budgeting
• Tender documentation
• Procurement
• Project Management
• Work Methodologies
• All facets of construction delivery.

Once you have progressed through these learnings, you will be out onsite to deliver and witness all of the above in a practical setting, understanding the reasoning behind why and when decisions are made and how that will affect the front end. Working with experienced and senior civil engineers you will be able to understand the full project lifecycle of the civil construction team – acquisition to delivery of a site ready for the residential and commercial teams to commence. 

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Highly organised with the capacity to manage several competing tasks at once and work to deadlines.
• Commitment to growing your career.
• Positive attitude towards learning
• Current drivers’ licence
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
