For the first time, GemLife is seeking external candidates for the role of Senior Cost Planner. This individual will lead and manage a compact team of Cost Planners and Estimators tasked with preparing detailed cost plans at all stages of cost estimation—Concept, Budget, and Construction. Within the Commercial team, this role contributes to the creation of luxurious Country Clubs, Statement Entries, Summer Houses, and various structures that elevate both the property and the residents' experience. 

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager of Commercial, the successful candidate in this role will demonstrate expertise in upholding excellence in Cost Planning, Estimating, and Procurement according to Australian Industry Standards. Additionally, your approach will ensure effective, value-for-money procurement and the appointment of suppliers and sub-contractors. You have previous experience in creating processes like a comprehensive standard Tender Request format, an RFI process, a Tender analysis process, and other processes needed to support good business practices. Main outcomes of the role would be.

  • Maintain Cost Planning, Estimating and Procurement excellence as Australian Industry Standards.
  • Manage the team of Cost Planner and Estimators ensuring their work is delivered in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Develop, maintain and analyse cost in the Cost Plan database. 
  • Develop, maintain and update Cost Plan structures, templates, processes and reporting
  • Effective, value for money procurement and appointment of suppliers and sub-contractors

This role will have key relationships across the business and would describe themselves as personable individual, who enjoys collaboration, is approachable and is motivated by positive outcomes. With 10 years' experience and ideally appropriately qualified.

What you will bring to the role

  • Demonstrable Cost Planning and Team Leadership experience (minimum 10 years).
  • Degree qualified in a commercial or construction related degree.
  • Sound knowledge of cost planning, construction estimating, budget analysis and cost control principles process and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively investigate and produce Cost Plans where limited information has been provided.
  • Experience in managing and evaluating claims and variations and obtaining value for money outcomes.
  • Experience in the use of software packages in particular CUBIT estimating software, DataBuild cost management software, and Procore
