About The Role
Due to an strong growth strategy for 2025 and to complement the successful recruitment campaign for the development team in 2024, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Town Planner to manage our Planning team. As a Senior Town Planner, you will be an integral part of the team, working within the Design and Planning function, to manage the development activities for projects within the business and extensive asset portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and submission of Development Applications, and pre-application enquiries, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards
- Oversee and collaborate with consultants to prepare comprehensive reports on planning matters and in support of Development Applications
- Conduct in-depth research and due diligence reviews to establish the development potential of sites, providing strategic insights and recommendations
- Manage stakeholder engagement processes with government agencies, stakeholders, and community groups to gather input, address concerns, and promote consensus-building in the planning process
- Provide expert planning input and guidance for design proposals, focusing on the expansion and development of the existing asset base
- Coordinate and manage third-party consultants undertaking environmental assessments and impact studies to identify potential risks and opportunities associated with development projects
- Offer strategic advice and guidance to project teams on complex planning matters, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Prepare and present detailed planning reports, presentations, and recommendations to planning commissions, city councils, and other governing bodies
- Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and legislative changes in the field of urban planning, applying this knowledge to enhance planning processes and outcomes
About You
You will have a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related field combined with experience in urban planning, with a focus on comprehensive planning, zoning, and land use regulations. This role is targeted towards someone who has experience leading the Town Planning function and is wanting to further their career. You will be working with experienced professionals, with a strong focus on career development and the investment and training of our staff.
You are motivated, curious, and driven to innovate the way we approach complex environmental and planning issues. The role is unique, as it requires an understanding, or willingness to learn and navigate all planning frameworks across Australia. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be passionate about adding value and creating sustainable vibrant experiences and outcomes within our extensive property portfolio. You will have strong leadership, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply technical data and planning principles.
Whilst technical proficiency is important to the role, you will also have the attitude, soft skills, and capability to engage with a broad range of business stakeholders. You will possess a high level of energy, self-motivation, autonomy, initiative, and attention to detail to be successful in meeting the business demands at G’day Group.
