The Role
As the Software Solutions Architect you will be a highly valued member of the organization who will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions across the organization. You will be involved in guiding the development team through architectural best practices, collaborating with project stakeholders, and ensuring that solutions align with both technical and business goals. You will mentor the development team, fostering technical growth, adherence to high standards, and contributing to a collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Leadership:
- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions, ensuring alignment with the organization's technical strategy and quality standards.
- Provide expert architectural guidance for complex projects, considering scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Oversee the development process, ensuring the team adheres to architectural designs and best practices.
Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Work closely with the Software Development Teams, QA Team , and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive solutions that meet project requirements.
- Mentor junior and senior developers, providing technical guidance and promoting the use of best practices.
- Engage in cross-functional team discussions to contribute strategic input and guide decision-making.
Solution Design & Implementation:
- Architect robust, scalable systems using C# up to .NET 8, WebAPI, MVC, and other relevant technologies like NodeJS, Python, bash etc.
- Design and implement the full AWS cloud infrastructure stack, leveraging services like ECS or Kubernetes, Docker, EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront, Lambda and AWS WAF.
- Ensure the implementation of secure, load-balanced solutions using AWS Load Balancer, HAProxy, or similar technologies.
- Ensure Cost effectiveness of the solutions implemented using scale up and scale down technologies to address busy and quiet periods.
Database Architecture & Optimization:
- Design and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and indexes in SQL Server and MySQL.
- Guide the team in troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues.
Security & Compliance:
- Maintain a strong focus on security, ensuring that public-facing systems are designed and built with data protection and compliance in mind.
- Ensure solutions align with PCI DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or NIST standards when applicable.
- Identify and address potential security vulnerabilities, such as SQL injection and data exposure, proactively.
Technical Problem Solving:
- Lead the team in identifying, prioritizing, and solving complex technical challenges.
- Guide the implementation of background services and multi-threaded solutions for performance optimization.
Code Quality & Standards:
- Uphold high code quality by enforcing thorough unit testing and adherence to coding standards.
- Ensure that all development aligns with company-wide development policies and maintainable coding practices.
Documentation & Process Improvement:
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of architectural designs and processes using methodologies such as TOGAF, UML, or ArchiMate.
- Drive the continuous improvement of software solutions, integrating new tools and practices as appropriate.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and incorporate modern practices into the development lifecycle.
Your Experience
To be successful in this role you will have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. You will have strong experience working in a similar role combined with full-stack development experience managing end-to-end projects.
You will have a advanced working knowledge of AWS services, particularly ECS, Kubernetes, Docker, EC2, S3, RDS, Cloudfront, Cloudformation and AWS WAF. You will have extensive experience with SQL Server and T-SQL performance optimisation. You will have demonstrated experience designing secure highly available concurrent public-facing systems.
Whilst technical proficiency is important to the role, you will also have the attitude, soft skills and leadership capability to engage with a broad range of business and technology stakeholders. You will have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. You will possess a high level of energy, self-motivation, autonomy, initiative, and attention to detail to be successful in meeting the business demands at G’day Group.
