The role

Seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Newcastle based engineering team. We will also consider a discipline Electrical Engineer who is ready to take the next step.

Reporting to the Electrical Department Manager you will be working in a highly experienced team supporting a variety of mineral processing studies and/or projects. The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis.

  • Prepare electrical and instrumentation designs and calculations in accordance with relevant Client and Australian Standards
  • LV and MV design, MCC’s, Switchrooms, Switchgear and the design elements for the supporting infrastructure
  • Exposure to the configuration and commissioning of Electrical and Control Systems
  • Specification and technical document writing
  • Management and ownership of electrical, instrumentation and controls design in projects
  • Support and collaborate with designers to develop designs for a wide range of plant elements
  • Assist with project delivery outcomes such as scheduling, cost control and procurement activities
  • Prepare technical engineering documents as part of the overall project engineering deliverables
  • Opportunity to attend site-based assignments to support construction, commissioning or operating plant activities
  • Lead by example and provide mentorship to team members

You will have

  • Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in mineral processing in a design and construction environment
  • ETAP software proficiency - advantageous
  • Knowledge of power systems and LV/MV design
  • Functional safety and hazardous area experience and/or exposure in mining environments
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, control systems and communications elements relevant to the delivery of a fully functional plant
  • Experience in stages of project development and delivery (Studies, Engineering & Construction, Commissioning)
  • Understanding of relevant Australian and industry codes and standards
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey electrical engineering outcomes with clients, stakeholders and other disciplines as required
  • Demonstrated ability and genuine enthusiasm to motivate and mentor emerging engineers
