About the Role
Seeking a Cost Controller who will be responsible for monitoring project costs, analysing variances, and implementing cost control measures to ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role is offered on a permanent full-time basis and is located at our Perth CBD office.
Key duties
- Develop and maintain project budgets for mining engineering projects, including capital expenditures, operating costs, and contingency allowances.
- Monitor project expenditures and track costs against budgeted amounts on an ongoing basis.
- Analyse cost variances and identify areas of potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to forecast project costs and mitigate financial risks.
- Review and evaluate contractor and supplier invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with project budgets.
- Maintain accurate records of project expenses, invoices, and financial transactions.
- Prepare regular cost reports and updates for project stakeholders, including management and clients.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards related to cost management.
You will have
- Tertiary Degree in Engineering, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years’ experience in cost control
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Understanding of project management principles, cost accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques
- Understanding of cost management software, spreadsheet applications, and financial modelling tools
- Exposure to project schedule management tools
