Your Role
There is no typical working week at Flybuys. But here are some of the things you will be working on, day-to-day;
The key areas of accountability in the role are:
- Assist in the implementation of cloud, container and virtual platforms as well as maintaining and enhancing infrastructure as code capabilities.
- Responsible for provision, support and continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure and application hosting solutions.
- Guide application teams to employ the best practices for application development teams in accordance with AWS operational excellence.
- Continuously improve application deployments and ensure monitoring and observability standards.
- Help with cost optimisation, scaling, resiliency, disaster recovery strategies and tiered storage.
- Assist with release and maintenance of software applications according to business needs.
- Establish / improve on cloud engineering processes to ensure seamless and automatic progression of the releases across environments.
- Manage build pipelines, runners and design secure flows to production.
- Build and maintain internal tooling.
Technical:
- Strong AWS cloud experience and automation & orchestration of the various cloud environment across the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC).
- Ensure best practice for the adoption and ongoing consumption of AWS cloud services from various lens (automation, operations and security).
- Add value to the operational aspect of production and development systems to ensure agreed service level agreements are met.
- Successfully identify, prioritize and resolve issues and provide subject matter expertise for enhancements, developments and operational improvements.
- Help build technical requirements analysis and review.
- Ensure compliance standards are met across all the cloud and SaaS spaces we manage.
Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to the automation and improvement of current processes.
- Help improve code quality and standards by writing meaningful tests.
Enablement:
- Assist multiple teams to achieve delivery expectations in the AWS cloud environment.
- Contribute to project estimations including - time and costing (Specifically AWS platforms).
Your Experience
- Tertiary qualification in information technology or equivalent industry experience.
- 3+ years experience working in a Cloud Platform Engineer/DevOps Engineer role or similar.
- Hands-on experience managing AWS infrastructure and platform services (Mandatory).
- Working in cross-functional Agile teams with knowledge across concepts and methodologies.
- Solid experience working with AWS services not limited to Cloudfront, EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, RDS, SNS, SQS, Lambda, StepFunctions etc.
- Hands-on experience using Cloudformation, preferable using AWS CDK.
- Hands-on experience with container technology like Docker, ECS, EKS and best practice use from an operations and security perspective.
- Development experience in at least one language like Python, Golang, TypeScript or similar.
- Hands-on experience using Agile Tools like Atlassian JIRA, Confluence.
- Good understanding of CI/CD toolset like Gitlab CI and git-based workflow.
- Experience building cloud infrastructure pipelines, automation and release process.
- Experience in complex, large-team technical environments requiring prompt resolution and strategic actions.
- AWS Certified Architect Associate or AWS Certified DevOps Professional.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
