Evoenergy is now recruiting for the 2025 Apprenticeship Program. We are offering apprenticeships as Electrical Fitters, Lineworkers and Cable Jointers.  

As an Apprentice you will get to be part of constructing, servicing and maintaining the ACT’s electricity network, as we move toward a net zero future.

What trades are available 

Lineworkers are responsible for building, improving and maintaining the poles and wires that deliver electricity to our customers 

Cable Jointers are responsible for installing and maintaining the underground cables and network equipment that deliver electricity to our customers 

Electrical Fitters are responsible for maintaining, servicing and constructing the network of the ACT.

What to expect  

At Evoenergy we are Powered by Safety. We ensure our Apprentices are mentored by highly skilled and qualified tradespeople, who are passionate about keeping the lights on for the Canberra community.  

Throughout the Apprenticeship, you will gain on-the-job training in your trade, while you receive support from our dedicated Apprenticeship Team Lead, so you can have a safe and successful career.  

What skills will you acquire  

You will be taught: 

  • electrical theory and how system components work 
  • correct use of power and hand tools 
  • safe use of test equipment 
  • knowledge of how to operate, maintain and repair electrical assets and equipment  
  • construction skills in overhead power systems 
  • construction skills such as excavation 
  • practical skills in operation of heavy machinery for practices such as non destructive digging e.g. elevated work platforms, cranes and borers  

Our ideal candidate: 

  • you will actively ensure the safety of your colleagues and our Canberra community, championing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment 
  • you have an eagerness to learn and listen. We’ll teach you everything you need to know so come along with a curiosity for the industry. 
  • you have experience in team-based environments. This can include work experience in retail, fast food, sporting teams or even social groups. 
  • you should be eager to work in the elements, including at heights, in confined spaces, outdoors and in the Canberra weather. 
  • you are about to complete year 12, have recently completed year 12 or have relevant job experience.

 What will I earn as an apprentice?

  • Under 21: $41,445 which equates to $1,588 per fortnight plus allowances
  • Over 21: $78,864 which equates to $3,023 per fortnight plus allowances
