About the Role 

Esri Australia’s Solution Engineering team designs innovative geospatial solutions to address complex challenges and drive client success. As a Senior Consultant with expertise in the Utilities sector, you will leverage GIS knowledge to support software, services, and solution sales in Utilities and related industries. 

Partnering with the Sales team, Solution Engineers deliver technical expertise throughout the sales cycle, assisting with strategic opportunities and guiding purchasing decisions across our product suite. 

In this role, you’ll work closely with Utilities clients to understand their needs and propose tailored solutions. A skilled technical storyteller, you’ll develop and deliver impactful presentations and demonstrations at all organizational levels, including at industry events. You’ll also lead the creation of technical content for bids and proposals, presenting a compelling value proposition. 

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead presales activities to drive the adoption of Esri software in the Utilities sector. 
  • Provide solutions, ideas, and advocacy that bridge the gap between spatial technology and business outcomes. 
  • Understand a client's needs and explore with them how they can benefit from the full potential of GIS in their organisation. 
  • Prepare bids and proposals that demonstrate a compelling value proposition for the client. 
  • Drive adoption of software use and new technologies by maintaining current knowledge of technology, key industry domains, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape.  
  • Support sector-, account-, and opportunity-level sales and marketing activities. 
  • Undertake knowledge development and management and promote knowledge sharing within the team and company, with a focus on the Utilities sector. 
  • Represent Esri Australia solutions at various webinars, conferences, partner, and user events through presentations that showcase our technology and services.  
  • Contribute to the effective management of customer information and revenue reporting within Salesforce. 

 

About You  

We are seeking an experienced Senior Consultant with a strong background in providing GIS expertise to utilities organizations, combined with proven sales acumen and solution-selling skills. 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in GIS or related discipline.   
  • Five years’ experience in GIS; ArcGIS experience an advantage. 
  • Three years’ experience using GIS in a Utilities organisation.  
  • Knowledge of electrical transmission, utility distribution, or telecommunications highly desirable. 
  • Experience designing GIS solutions, and/or delivering GIS products and services. 
  • Solid experience working in a consulting environment and interacting at all levels of an organisation, both internally and with clients. 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proven ability to diagnose a business problem and seek creative solutions in complex environments. 
  • Proven ability to design and present complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Knowledge of sales methodologies and solution selling. 
  • Substantial energy, commercial acumen, and a can-do mindset. 
  • You must hold current permanent and full-time working rights in Australia.
